Tom Young (basketball)
Tom Young (born September 17, 1932) is an American basketball coach best known for being head coach at American University. He also coached at Rutgers University, Catholic University and Old Dominion University. At Rutgers Young was coach of the 1976 Scarlet Knights, a team noted for having an undefeated regular season record and participating in the NCAA Final Four. Young also served as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association under Head Coach Eddie Jordan, who was a player on the 1976 Rutgers team.
He attended the University of Maryland, where he played on the basketball team. Young graduated in 1958.[1] In 2003, the University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame inducted him into its ranks.[2]
Under Young, Jordan evolved into an All-American, and went to the NBA.
